Semester One Adventures: Madrid Highlights

Madrid is an amazing city, and I feel so privileged to have been here for as long as I have. Throughout Semester One of Erasmus, I have explored the city and I’m sharing some of my Madrileñan highlights from Autumn/Winter:

First up has to be the classic tourist spots: La Palacio Real, Retiro Park, and the multiple Plazas throughout the city. Madrid itself is a walk-able city; with main tourist highlights in close proximity to each other, it’s easy to plan days of sightseeing and hit every major landmark.

Remember the ESN group I mentioned before? Well some of my closest friends were people I met through that group. As well as Brits that I could continue seeing back home, I’ve met some amazing Spanish people who keep my Spanish skills in check and keep in touch with.

Near Madrid is the Sierra Nevada hiking trail – I’ve never been much of a hiker back in the UK, but the breathtaking views around me in that autumn sun inspired me to keep finding new trails and explore the UK more.
