Now that the weather is changing and we’re experiencing harsh extremes (global warming, I’m looking at you), it’s the most important time to really take care of your skin. The key is to give your skin consistency that the elements can’t. I’ve outlined my general routine as a guide to keeping skin hydrated and happy all year round.
Wash
I usually wash my face with cold water every morning and pat dry. This gives my skin the chance to wake up, and sometimes I’ll couple this with a mild tea tree or lemon face wash from Superdrug. All natural, vegan friendly and cruelty free.
Tone
I use the Sanctuary Daily Glow Radiance Tonic to exfoliate and tone my face. I’ve also experimented with the Pixi Glow Tonic which I really like, but the Sanctuary is my go-to for the moment. The tonic helps exfoliate and even out my skintone – I suffer from anaemia so my skin can sometimes look washed out and patchy. I’ve found the Sanctuary tonic to be a gentle exfoliator and a great way for me to even this out.

Moisturize
To counter the harsh glycolic acid in the tonic, I use Nip and Fab’s post-glycolic fix moisturiser, which is great for keeping my skin hydrated all day. I couple this with their under eye moisturiser, giving some extra tlc to that delicate under eye area. This helps cool the dark circles under my eyes, and makes me feel more refreshed in the mornings.

Drink water
This is the most important thing you can do for your skin! I try to drink 1.5 – 2 litres of water each day, to keep my body hydrated and in turn keep my skin clear. This should really be the first real change you make to your skincare routine – not only will you get clearer skin, but your entire body will feel healthier and more energised!
Take care with makeup removal
Using removal wipes can be really harsh on your skin, and can sometimes cause breakouts as you’re just dragging dirt across your face. I use coconut oil to melt the makeup off my face, and then a warm damp towel to clean it all off. All natural and leaves my skin feeling soft and nourished, and it smells great.

Keep it Clean
Follow up your makeup removal with a cleanser, like from the Superdrug tea tree range. This will take off any excess residue, and leave your skin feeling fresh. Moisturise with a face cream of your choosing and you’re ready for whatever no-makeup activity you had planned! (Mine’s normally sleeping…)

All of these products are ones that I use regularly, but they may not work the same for all skin types. If you have any other suggestions or product recommendations, let me know in the comments below!
